We went to the Catalina museum at Lake Boga, which was a wartime flying boat repair base way inland for protection. Many hundreds of flying boats passed through this facility.
We then continued following back roads, which has been our mantra on this trip. We passed through plenty of salt bush desert & ended up at a place called Morgan, on the Murray. It is green & beautiful in contrast to its desert surroundings, so we stopped & pitched camp right on the river bank & did some much needed washing. Clean underpants, a much understated requirement.
Sunrise at Lake Boga, raining, windy & cold
As above.
Many birds were having breakfast on the lake.
Heading into the Catalina museum, there were plenty of these flying boat moorings scattered around, retrieved from the lake.
Inside it was heated & cosy.
Inside the catalina pictographed above.
This is a B-17G model. The exact model I flew in at Phoenix. Thanks again Byron.
Looking into the hatch at the front of the Catalina, with pilot dummies in position.
In the bunker.
Morning tea at the Swan Hill bakery. Great vanilla slice.
Swan Hill.
Nyah on the Murray. Some old wooden dude & his dad.
Nyah.
Lunch stop at Robinvale.
As above with sister city arch.
Quite a lot of sad buildings in Robinvale. This old pub had no roof.
Morning tea just over the South Australian border..
On the river bank at Morgan. Never heard of this place before.
Camp Morgan.
As above.
Ditto.
A Morgan camper.
Many house boats just down stream of us & a ferry in front of us.

When we came out of the building, the day had become sunny & warm & has stayed that way ever since. This is the entry to the underground communications bunker
